The Programme

You’ll undertake three six‑month placements offering broad experience across the airport. Graduates will complete three six‑month placements, gaining exposure to both frontline operations and corporate functions. The programme is designed to develop leadership skills, commercial acumen and project‑management capabilities, while also contributing to our digital and data transformation agenda.

  • Operational placement

    Through collaborating with colleagues and carrying out projects in operations, you will gain a real understanding of how we run one of the world’s busiest airports in areas such as passenger services, operational planning and security.

  • Non-Operational placement

    This will typically be in an area such as Customer function (retail, marketing or airline engagement), Solutions (data, process improvement or PMO), Strategy (planning, forecasting, data insights, communications or sustainability). The projects you work on will give you real insight into how we develop and deliver solutions to support our passengers and be a profitable business.

  • Tailored placement

    Your third and final placement will involve opportunities to consolidate and refine your skills. The type of role will depend on your personal strengths and preferences. We’ll work with you to find a placement that stretches and challenges you, whilst helping develop your strengths.

Supporting you for success

Throughout the programme, you will be supported by a dedicated mentor, a ‘buddy’ to show you the ropes, and in the final months, a senior sponsor from our leadership team. They will help you build networks, challenge your thinking and unlock opportunities. You will also go through a structured learning programme, providing you with all the tools to build a career at Heathrow.
