Introduction

Together, we’re working to welcome millions more passengers, while ensuring aviation can continue to be a force for good by leading global efforts in sustainability. At Heathrow, you can be part of this – providing solutions that make every journey better for millions each year. That means ensuring we meet the changing needs of the passengers, colleagues and partners who use our airport to work, travel, trade, shop, eat, explore and connect. Our Solutions team covers project management, process improvement, business change, technology, cyber defence, masterplanning, infrastructure and procurement. It brings together people with the skills to deliver prestigious and often large-scale projects, from transforming terminals to making big reductions in our carbon emissions.

Every day will test your skills and give you the opportunity to make your mark. You might be working with the technology and data that power our city within a city, driving vital commercial agreements with everyone from retailers to airlines, or improving the unique infrastructure that includes everything from 200 buildings to 250 HV substations. It’s a collaborative environment, where you can rely on the support of the experts around you as you take on projects you’ll both take pride in and feel passionate about.

Job Description

Are you ready to take your career to new heights? As a Heathrow Project Manager, you’ll experience the thrill of a dynamic work environment where no two days are the same. Join our team and you’ll have the chance to play a big part in our future in one of the most unique project management environments in the UK.

When it comes to the size, scale, and variety of our infrastructure – or the ambition of our plans to transform it – we offer careers that are simply one-of-a-kind. Our four terminals and 200 additional buildings are linked by 125 km of roads, 44 tunnels and 4 million square meters of pavement. We have the largest private water network in Europe, punctuated with 28 cooling towers. We operate 3,400 flight information screens and run 30km of baggage belts in Terminal 5 alone.

A city within a city, we have a 365-24/7 operational environment — so safety, sustainability, carbon reduction and modern methods of construction are fundamental to the way we get things done. You’ll be working across several design, delivery and technology partners, as well as all our airport, airline, regulatory and community stakeholders. Our capital investment plans include six major multi-million programmes spanning 5 to 10 years (and far beyond) with major transformative improvements to our current infrastructure.

Your role will involve

  • Planning, leading and managing a project team to deliver integrated, sustainable, and effective solutions that meet the project brief.
  • Establishing strong working relationships with partners and key stakeholders at all levels, ensuring that all requirements are captured with approvals in place.
  • End-to-end execution planning and management as you establish clear goals with well-defined roles and deliverables.
  • Ensuring a seamless, defined integration of design, development, commissioning delivery and process requirements.
  • Reporting of project performance using project control tools, including earned value and quantitative risk analysis.
  • Ensuring thorough management of both the deliverables and team safety.

These Skills Are Essential

  • Proven experience in planning, leading, and managing project teams in a highly regulated environment.
  • Extensive knowledge of planning and implementation of complex projects, within a live operational environment, with multiple stakeholder interfaces.
  • Proven track record of delivering integrated and sustainable solutions to meet project briefs.
  • Leading in Project Management Commissions, taking responsibility for end-to-end service delivery.
  • A proven background in communicating project deliverables across complex regulated industries.
  • Demonstrable experience in leading and influencing across internal and external teams.

Ideally, you will also have:

  • Familiar with tender documents and negotiations in a large-scale commercial environment.
  • Experience working in aviation, rail or construction industries.
