As a Press Officer (Consumer & Filming) you will help us land a steady drumbeat of positive news and features across national and consumer media—building trust, pride and love for Heathrow. You’ll be protecting and enhancing our reputation through compelling communications and working on exciting PR and filming projects that only the UK’s hub airport can offer. From major PR campaigns to high‑profile film shoots, you’ll be at the heart of stories that reach millions of consumers. As the Government pushes to expand Heathrow with a third runway, there’s never been a more interesting time for an ambitious and proactive PR professional to join the team.
No two days will be the same in this role. One day you’ll be brainstorming ideas for our next consumer PR campaign, the next managing a large-scale TV shoot in the terminal, and the next providing press office support during a fast‑moving crisis. You’ll need creativity, confidence and the ability to juggle multiple priorities while building strong relationships with stakeholders and the media.
Responsibilities- Proactively develop opportunities for national and consumer media coverage to build trust, pride and love for Heathrow.
- Proactively pitch news stories and feature ideas to consumer media outlets to secure positive coverage, and reactively respond to journalist queries.
- Identify new opportunities for media coverage with airport stakeholders and partners, including airlines and F&B retailers.
- Prepare briefing materials for spokespeople and manage media interviews.
- Collaborate with Heathrow’s Marketing, Operational and Social Media teams to align and execute activity.
- Support commercial filming projects at the airport; from arranging filming permits for Heathrow partners to project‑managing large‑scale film or TV shoots at the airport.
- Play a key role in Heathrow’s crisis communications response team, including on‑call press officer duties.
The successful candidate must have the temperament and judgment to be able to hold a line under pressure and maintain their professionalism in difficult circumstances. They must also be able to advise managers on how ongoing media coverage is affecting Heathrow’s corporate reputation.
Essential Skills- Degree‑level education or equivalent experience.
- Excellent project management and time management skills.
- Outstanding written and verbal communications skills.
- Creativity, proactivity and a sense for a good ‘news’ story.
- Strong work ethic, with drive and determination to improve performance.
- Ability to identify and deliver improvements to processes within the function.

Working LocationOur hybrid working approach offers the opportunity for colleagues in some roles to work from home for an average of two days a week, providing the flexibility to work in an agile way whilst ensuring we deliver for the operational needs of Heathrow. Working arrangements vary from team to team and will be confirmed during the recruitment process. You’ll need to be based in the UK and within a commutable distance to Heathrow.
