We are seeking a Head of Finance – Expansion Business Partnering to support the Expansion Programme in driving sustainable value and optimising financial performance. As a pivotal member of the Expansion Leadership Team, you will bring experience of designing robust financial processes, delivering insightful analysis, and of influencing cross-functional teams to achieve strategic outcomes.
You will lead a high-performing team to ensure accurate reporting, strong governance, and rigorous financial evaluation of capital investments, while maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements. Your expertise will support business case appraisal, investment prioritisation, and the delivery of long-term business plans, as well as foster a culture of continuous improvement and automation.
This role offers the opportunity to collaborate across the business and shape financial management of Heathrow's £40bn mega-project, ensuring every decision contributes to our strategic goals and regulatory obligations.
Your role will involve:
- Providing strategic business partnering by delivering insight, analysis, and challenge to support effective decision-making, cost control, and opportunity identification.
- Leading governance, controls, and high-quality financial reporting to ensure accuracy, compliance, and robust financial management across the business area.
- Owning and driving the planning cycle, including targets, assumptions, risks/opportunities, and commentary, ensuring plans are challenging yet achievable.
- Overseeing investment appraisal, business case evaluation, and benefits tracking, including prioritising capital choices and reviewing projects against ex‑ante and ex‑post performance.
- Collaborating across Finance and the wider business to align capital allocation with long term financial constraints, offering expert advice and helping stakeholders understand impacts in a capital constrained environment.
These Skills Are Essential:
- Qualified accountant, CFA or qualified by experience with extensive managerial experience operating at an operational and strategic level and/or corporate finance.
- Demonstrable experience of managing large capital investment programmes.
- Strong influencer and communicator with the ability to structure and deliver persuasive arguments at Director, Executive Director and Shareholder levels.
- Demonstrable ability to learn from and adapt to environment to deliver results.
- Knowledge and experience of global aviation industry or other capital-intensive industries.
- Strong leadership skills with a demonstrable track record of leading high-performance teams.
