We are recruiting for an experienced Air Freight Export Operator to manage end-to-end air operations. The role requires strong coordination with network partners, airlines, customers, and internal teams to ensure shipments are handled efficiently, compliantly, and on time.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate air freight shipments from origin to destination, maintaining clear communication with UK clients, overseas partners, and internal teams.
- Monitor shipment progress and provide regular updates to destination partners and customers.
- Ensure all air export jobs are completed accurately and within agreed timelines.
- Prepare accurate airway bills and pre-alerts, avoiding delays or penalties.
- Ensure the operational system is always used correctly.
Customs & Compliance
- Ensure all shipments comply with international trade regulations, customs procedures, and export control laws.
- Complete customs declarations accurately and on time.
- Understand and apply HMRC UK Trade Tariff Volumes.
- Liaise with HMRC and maintain customs procedures.
- Ensure SOPs are followed fully and correctly.
Commercial & Rates
- Quote shipments prior to movement and apply agreed rates where required.
- Liaise with network partners to obtain quotes and rates.
- Build and maintain relationships with airlines for cargo bookings and rate negotiations.
- Ensure all goods moving under the company’s deferment account are approved in line with SOPs, quotes, or management approval.
Documentation & Financial Control
- Demonstrate familiarity with export documentation and its purpose.
- Pass supplier and provider invoices within 48 hours of receipt.
- Ensure insurance is charged correctly on shipments.
- Escalate insurance claims immediately to the claims department.
- Ensure all required reports are completed within deadlines.
Key Skills
- Minimum 3 years experience within the Freight Forwarding sector.
- Strong knowledge of air freight export operations.
- Experience in import/export multimodal logistics.
- Basic understanding of INCOTERMS and associated risks and liabilities.
- Good understanding of logistics processes and procedures.
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- High attention to detail and ability to prioritise workload.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Flexible with working hours Monday to Friday 8.30-17.30pm.
