Our client, a well-established and growing freight forwarding business based in Basildon, is looking to recruit an experienced Sea Freight Import Operator to join their busy import team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong background in FCL imports who enjoys managing shipments from start to finish and thrives in a fast-paced freight forwarding environment.

Key Responsibilities
- Managing FCL import shipments from origin through to final delivery
- Liaising with overseas offices
- Communicating with shipping lines regarding bookings, schedules, and container availability
- Coordinating customs clearance with the customs department
- Arranging UK transport and final deliveries
- Liaising with warehouses and third-party facilities where required
- Monitoring shipment progress and resolving operational issues proactively
- Ensuring key client shipments are handled in line with customer expectations
- Working closely with internal departments, including accounts, to facilitate cargo release
- Maintaining accurate shipment records and documentation, including Bills of Lading
- Supporting the wider import team to ensure smooth day-to-day operations
Requirements
- Previous experience within FCL Sea Freight Import Operations
- Strong understanding of container shipping processes and import documentation
- Knowledge of shipping line procedures, carrier performance, and container availability
- Ability to manage multiple shipments and priorities simultaneously
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Proactive approach with excellent problem-solving abilities
- Experience with customs procedures would be advantageous but is not essential
