Our client, a well-established and growing freight forwarding and logistics business, is seeking an experienced Accounts Manager to oversee the day-to-day running of their finance department. This is a fantastic opportunity for a hands-on finance professional with strong leadership skills and proven experience within the cargo, freight forwarding, or logistics sector. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a team of up to 10 staff while ensuring the smooth operation of all accounting and finance functions across the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the smooth running of the Accounts Department and manage a team of up to 10 staff
  • Manage all aspects of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable
  • Oversee Sales Ledger, Billing, and Credit Control functions
  • Complete and review Bank and Duty VAT reconciliations
  • Prepare and submit VAT Returns
  • Conduct and oversee credit checks and risk assessments for new UK and overseas clients
  • Liaise with senior management and external accountants as required
  • Supervise the processing of sales and purchase invoices
  • Resolve account-related queries and discrepancies
  • Produce and analyse P&L reports, Aged Debtor reports, budgets, and payroll information
  • Provide regular financial reporting and updates to the senior management team
