We are looking for an

Operations Import Assistant to join our busy freight and logistics team. The role involves coordinating import/export shipments, customs documentation, airline bookings and warehouse operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage import and export shipments from start to finish.
  • Liaise with airlines, agents, customers, HMRC and internal departments.
  • Book flights and coordinate transport requirements.
  • Prepare and check shipping and customs documentation.
  • Raise and manage MAWBs, T1 documents and customs entries using CDS/Descartes.
  • Handle Import SFD/FDE clearances, T1/T2 clearances and discharges.
  • Manage Temporary Admission clearances.
  • Prepare, process and manage ATA Carnets, including the importation and exportation of Carnet goods.
  • Process CITES shipments and associated documentation.
  • Manifest and pre-alert flights and ensure shipment paperwork is accurate.
  • Liaise with HMRC regarding customs amendments and shipment statuses.
  • Ensure goods being loaded/unloaded match the relevant documentation.
  • Support warehouse activities including shipment accountability, bagging, labelling, stock control and general housekeeping.
  • Report damaged, missing or suspicious goods to the Operations Manager.
  • Follow company procedures and all relevant health & safety requirements.

Skills & Experience

  • Previous experience in freight forwarding, imports/exports or customs preferred.
  • Knowledge of UK customs procedures and CDS beneficial.
  • Experience with ATA Carnets, T1/T2, Temporary Admission
  • Descartes customs software experience advantageous.
  • Good communication, administration and organisational skills.
  • Forklift licence, DG awareness and driving licence desirable but not essential.
  • No heavy lifting required; shipments are generally under 32kg.
