We are recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Air Freight Coordinator to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating air freight shipments, managing customer and supplier relationships, and ensuring all operational and customs requirements are completed accurately and on time.
Salary: £26,500–£30,000 per annum, depending on experience
Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:30am–5:30pm (one-hour unpaid lunch break)
Location: Office-based
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate air freight import and export shipments from origin to destination.
- Liaise with customers, overseas agents, airlines and internal teams to arrange bookings and monitor shipment progress.
- Prepare quotations, negotiate rates and maintain effective supplier relationships.
- Ensure airway bills, pre-alerts, shipping documentation and customs declarations are completed accurately.
- Maintain knowledge of Incoterms, UK Trade Tariff requirements and international customs regulations.
- Ensure company procedures are followed and operational systems and reports are maintained accurately.
- Process supplier invoices within 48 hours and ensure insurance charges and claims are handled correctly.
- Identify opportunities to improve workflows, customer service and operational efficiency.
Skills and Experience
- Minimum three years' experience in freight forwarding, ideally within air freight.
- Experience in import and/or export operations; multimodal knowledge is advantageous.
- Good understanding of air freight pricing, customs procedures and shipping documentation.
- Strong communication, organisation and time management skills.
- Good IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent attention to detail and a flexible approach.
