We are recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Fine Art Operations Manager to join their specialist logistics operation.
This is a hands-on role with responsibility for managing international shipments from quotation through to final delivery, while helping develop the processes, suppliers and structure of the Shipping division as the business grows.
Location: Ashford, Middlesex
Hours: Monday to Friday
Salary: DOE
Key Responsibilities
- Manage international shipping jobs from quotation and booking through to delivery and completion.
- Arrange air, sea, road and courier transport for bespoke shipments.
- Prepare and manage freight quotations, shipping documentation, customs requirements and shipment instructions.
- Build and manage relationships with international agents and suppliers, including negotiating rates and service levels.
- Maintain clear, proactive communication with clients, agents and internal teams.
- Take ownership of shipping issues and ensure they are resolved efficiently.
- Develop and improve Shipping procedures, processes and working standards.
- Work closely with Sales, Accounts and other Operations teams while retaining ownership of shipping jobs.
- Support the development and future growth of the business.
Experience & Knowledge
- Strong experience in international shipping or specialist logistics is essential.
- Fine art, luxury interiors, or high-value logistics experience is highly desirable.
- Experience handling bespoke shipments, including private clients and high-value goods.
- Good knowledge of international freight, customs, Incoterms, HS classifications and shipping documentation.
- Strong commercial awareness, including freight rates, supplier costs and job margins.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Confident using Microsoft Outlook, Excel and general business systems.
