Contract: Permanent

Annual Salary is £30,592.87 FTE, rising to at least £32,785.75 FTE after 2 years’ service

What hours are available?

  • Core Combination (Full-Time): A mix of early shifts (starting as early as 04:00), late shifts (finishing as late as 23:00), and some night shifts (any time between 19:00 and 07:00).
  • Early (Full-Time): Shifts start as early as 04:00 (finishing between 12:45 and 14:30)
  • Late (Full-Time): Shifts start between 12:15 and 14:30 (finishing between 21:00 and 23:00)

Once you’ve completed your training, you’ll know your shifts 12 months in advance, so you can plan around them. Swaps are often possible, providing even greater flexibility, but it's important that you're available for all shifts on the pattern you apply for.

Your role will involve:

  • Greeting people, patrolling the airport, monitoring secure areas and generally putting everyone at ease.
  • Carrying out searches and safety checks on passengers, colleagues, and the items they bring through the airport.
  • Being the friendly face that offers passengers a warm welcome as well as a constant reassuring presence, alert to everything that's going on around you, ready to spot potential threats and responding rapidly if and when you do.

The qualities we look for are more common than you might imagine. You don’t need security experience or an SIA licence. We’ll give you six weeks of full-time training on full pay before you start in your role, along with ongoing mentoring and support to ensure you continue to thrive.

What you will need:

  • A warm, engaging personality and positive, friendly approach
  • Fluency in written and spoken English – additional languages are a bonus
  • The physical fitness to cope with long periods of standing, sitting, bending and walking
  • Full colour vision and hearing that meets our required standard

You must also be:

  • 18 or older at the time of applying
  • A UK resident of three years standing, with the right to work in the UK
  • Happy to complete our pre-employment medical, criminal record and counter-terrorism checks – this usually takes 8–15 weeks, depending on your personal history
  • Available to complete full-time training for your first six weeks, even if you've chosen to work part-time thereafter
