As a Skilled Electrician within M Group’s Aviation division, you will support the installation, maintenance, testing, and repair of critical electrical systems used across airports and airfields. Working on a variety of engineering projects, you will help ensure the safe and reliable operation of aviation infrastructure through planned and reactive maintenance activities. The role involves fault finding, testing, commissioning new installations, maintaining backup power systems, and ensuring all work complies with strict aviation safety and security standards. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams while gaining specialist knowledge of airfield electrical systems and operational procedures.
About You
- NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation or equivalent.
- City & Guilds 2365 Level 3 Diploma in Electrical Installation (or equivalent).
- City & Guilds 2391 Inspection & Testing qualification (or equivalent).
- BS7671 IET Wiring Regulations 18th Edition certified.
- JIB ECS Gold Card holder.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Able to obtain and maintain airside security clearance (DBS check).
- Experience installing, testing, maintaining, and fault-finding on electrical systems.
- Strong understanding of electrical safety standards and industry regulations.
- Comfortable working in safety-critical and operational airport environments.
- Willing to participate in a call-out rota when required.
- Strong team player with a proactive and safety-focused approach.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Desirable:
- SSSTS certification.
- PASMA qualification.
- IPAF qualification.
- CP1 Competent Person Substation Entry.
- Experience with Aeronautical Ground Lighting (AGL).
- ESR 2 Skilled Person certification.
- Confined Space AP qualification.
- Previous experience within aviation, infrastructure, or other safety-critical environments.
