Reporting to the Commercial Manager, you'll help drive Heathrow's recycling and sustainability goals by promoting best practice waste management, engaging with stakeholders and delivering training across the airport. Working closely with Heathrow teams and retailers, you'll support initiatives that improve recycling rates, reduce waste and encourage more sustainable ways of working.
Key Duties:
- Support Heathrow's recycling and sustainability goals by promoting correct waste segregation and encouraging best practice across the airport.
- Build strong working relationships with retailers, contractors and stakeholders, helping to identify waste management challenges and opportunities for improvement.
- Deliver training sessions, presentations and recycling awareness workshops to increase knowledge and engagement around waste management.
- Carry out site inspections, waste audits and recycling checks to ensure waste is being managed safely, efficiently and in line with environmental standards.
- Monitor bin usage, waste storage areas and recycling facilities, reporting issues and recommending improvements where needed.
- Produce reports and share findings with stakeholders to help improve recycling rates and support sustainability targets.
- Provide hands-on support with waste analysis, sorting activities and day-to-day operational tasks when required.
- Support the Commercial Manager with contractor management, stakeholder engagement and the delivery of waste management services across Heathrow.
- Assist with operational projects, maintain health and safety standards, and ensure compliance with waste management legislation and company procedures.
Other Responsibilities:
- At times, tasks may require driving Airside on the airport (training will be provided for this).
- If required, undertake the removal or movement of waste, recycling or other materials as requested.
- Undertake minor waste container repairs e.g. swap wheels, change lids and refresh signage.
About You
Qualifications:
- Ideally, educated to degree level with environmentally/sustainability focused subjects/modules.
- Full UK driving licence.
Experience / Skills / Knowledge:
- Competent in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
- Experience of using databases.
- Excellent report-writing skills.
- Strong desire to learn new systems.
- Ability to problem solve.
- Numerate, and confident with the written word.
- Confident and engaging presentation skills.
- Confident communicator, accurate, approachable, flexible and ability to multi-task.
- Place high importance on providing the best customer service.
- Strong team worker with ability to work on own initiative.
