Reporting to the Commercial Manager, you will assist with providing a Total Waste Management solution for Heathrow. Responsible for the monitoring of waste segregation on site, delivering education and training workshops to staff and engaging with all users to ensure waste and recycling is correctly segregated prior to disposal in a sustainable way and in line with the Waste Hierarchy; aiming to Reduce, Re-Use and Recycle. You will be working alongside the Commercial Manager to ensure recycling rates increase, and with Heathrow to reduce waste and improve sustainability in line with targets.
• Assist with the performance of the contract and manage contractors to individual specifications, KPIs and SLAs
• Proactively working on site to ensure Best Practice at all times when disposing of waste/s on site, ensuring the provision of timely and accurate reports
• Maintain regular communication to discuss service levels and opportunities for efficiencies and service expansion
• Organise and carry out on-site training, presentations, waste awareness seminars and facility tours/audits, to develop the key users’ knowledge of recycling targets, Grundon’s on site services and to promote efficient waste segregation
• Attend regular on-site meetings, providing feedback on performance, evidence of non-conformances and advice on future improvements including educating on the correct usage of containers on site
• Deputise for the Commercial Manager when required, providing operational support and maintaining regular visible contact with key stakeholders within Heathrow
• Monitor usage of internal and external bins and identify areas for improvement; ensuring that day-to-day operational matters and queries are dealt with sufficiently by the support team
• Monitor the back-of-house waste storage and compactor areas challenging incorrect practices and behaviours where necessary
• Using a hands-on approach, assist with waste sortation and analysis as required, ensuring full compliance with all company policies and procedures, including health and safety
• Report non-compliance issues and, where possible, report feedback and raising non-compliant issues to the relevant user to improve future use, in line with services provided and legislation
• Ensure performance levels are achieved in accordance with requirements and maintain a good working knowledge of waste management practices and legislation
• Any other duties, such as ad hoc projects, as requested by the Manager/Supervisor or the Board of Directors
About You
Qualifications:
• Ideally, educated to degree level with environmentally/sustainability focused subjects/modules
• Full UK driving licence
Experience / Skills / Knowledge:
• Competent in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
• Experience of using databases
• Excellent report-writing skills
