The scheme

You’ll undertake three six‑month placements offering broad experience across the airport. Graduates will complete three six‑month placements, gaining exposure to both frontline operations and corporate functions. The programme is designed to develop leadership skills, commercial acumen, and project management capabilities, while also contributing to our digital and data transformation agenda.

• Operational placement – collaborating with colleagues and carrying out projects in operations, gaining a real understanding of how we run one of the world’s busiest airports in areas like passenger services, operational planning and security.
• Non‑Operational placement – typically in an area such as our Customer function (retail, marketing or airline engagement), Solutions (data, process improvement or PMO), or Strategy (planning, forecasting, data insights, communications or sustainability). Projects will provide insight into how we develop and deliver solutions to support our passengers and run a profitable business.
• Tailored placement – the third and final placement will consolidate and refine skills. The role will depend on your personal strengths and preferences. We’ll work with you to find a placement that stretches and challenges you, whilst helping develop your strengths.

Supporting you for success

Throughout the programme you will be supported by a dedicated mentor who can answer any questions you may have, a “buddy” to show you the ropes, and a senior sponsor from our leadership team who will help you build networks, challenge your thinking and unlock opportunities.

You will also go through a structured learning programme, providing you with the tools to build a career at Heathrow. From here you can go anywhere.

Working location

Our graduate programmes offer a unique experience of Britain’s busiest airport. Most of your time will be spent on‑site, so you must be based in the UK and within commutable distance to Heathrow.
