We are seeking a professional who will provide consistent, compliant guidance aligned with our HAL people policies, protocols and processes. This role offers the opportunity to put policy into practice, coach managers, deliver training, and take the lead on early intervention and long-term sickness absence management. You will make a real impact in the daily implementation of our Employee Relations strategy, with a strong focus on colleague engagement and wellbeing.

Responsibilities
  • Serving as the main point of contact for managers regarding employee relations matters, offering advice, guidance, support and proactive solutions, including conflict resolution and policy implementation.
  • Ensuring compliance with employment laws and company policies, advising management on regulatory changes, and supporting fair and consistent workplace processes and practices whilst mitigating risk.
  • Conducting and advising on complex investigations into complaints, grievances and disciplinary issues, documenting outcomes and recommending actions.
  • Holding accountability for your assigned function areas performance against the ER KPI’s to ensure cases are managed within a reasonable timeframe and aligned to people policies.
  • Leading and managing long-term sickness absence cases, including making Occupational Health referrals, arranging capability reviews, handling ill health retirement processes, and supporting appeals.
  • Developing and delivering training on employee relations topics, coaching managers on performance issues, and preparing regular reports on employee relations metrics.
Qualifications
  • Able to demonstrate a high level of written and oral communications skills.
  • Excellent IT skills in the Microsoft suite of packages including Excel and Outlook.
  • CIPD qualification or relevant business experience.
  • Ability to work in a fast moving, demanding, high volume environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple issues at the same time and can prioritise tasks accordingly.
  • Self-starter who can work flexibly with high impact and able to demonstrate experience of managing stakeholder relationships through excellent interpersonal skills, influencing and professionalism.
  • Strong knowledge of employment law.
