Responsibilities
- Immerse yourself in a diverse range of subjects and risks covering the full lifecycle of our £14 million assets. From understanding and ownership to conducting strategic asset plans, your insights will drive maintenance improvements and capital investments aligned with Heathrow's aspirations and values.
- Set and meet rigorous safety and technical objectives. Adhere to regulations and industry best practices to mitigate threats to life and enhance asset performance, ensuring compliance with the Fire Safety Order 2005.
- Understand and fulfil legal obligations related to asset care. Active systems maintenance is crucial in our ever-changing environment, and your expertise will play a vital role.
- Lead, develop and mentor a team of engineers, professional consultants, and supply chain partners. Your guidance will drive clear outcomes and elevate our collective performance.
- Represent Fire teams and promote life safety and continuous improvement at stakeholder meetings, including interactions with Accountable or Responsible Persons, Building Control, CAA, LFB, and the Airport Fire Service, amongst others.
Qualifications
- Hold an undergraduate/postgraduate degree in Fire Engineering or possess significant relevant fire engineering expertise.
- Experience in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), Fire Strategies, Design Standards (BS9999, BS 7974, BS5839 and BS 12845 etc), ASET/RSET analysis, QDR.
- Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively and influence stakeholders across the organisation. Break down complex concepts into actionable information.
- Possess strong working knowledge and experience in asset management and maintenance practices, methodologies, and strategies. Fire engineering design and analysis.
Desirable
- Familiarity with preparing technical standards, specifications, or other publications.
- Membership to IFE (MIFireE) or similar or capable of working towards this.

Working Location
Our Hybrid working approach offers the opportunity for colleagues in some roles to work from home for an average of two days a week, providing the flexibility to work in an agile way whilst ensuring we deliver for the operational needs of Heathrow. Working arrangements vary from team to team and will be confirmed during the recruitment process. You'll need to be based in the UK and within a commutable distance to Heathrow.
