Overview
In this role you will shape and drive Heathrow’s data and AI governance, ensuring responsible data handling, effective governance, and robust controls across the organisation. You’ll lead governance reviews, translate findings into practical actions, and guide stakeholders across Data, Technology, Cyber Security, Legal, Procurement and Data Protection. You will help maximise the value of data and AI investments while supporting the airport’s digital, data and AI ambitions. Responsibilities
- Lead governance and controls reviews to evaluate how controls operate and deliver improvement actions
- Drive policy, standards, procedures and guidance and embed them with stakeholders
- Collaborate with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders and communicate complex governance concepts clearly
- Demonstrate knowledge of cloud data platforms, governance tooling, data management practices and AI governance methodologies
- Understand regulatory and governance requirements (UK GDPR, Data Protection Act 2018, NIS2, ISO 27001, ISO/IEC 42001, EU AI Act, NIST RMF)
- Influence senior stakeholders and lead cross‑functional initiatives to deliver governance outcomes
- Provide leadership and direction to develop governance capability and promote consistent standards and approaches
Key requirements
- Awareness of regulatory frameworks and governance requirements
- Experience in governance reviews, policy development, and stakeholder engagement
- Ability to communicate risk and governance concepts to diverse audiences
- Knowledge of data management and AI governance methodologies
- Experience leading governance-related change and adoption of controls across multiple business areas
- Familiarity with governance frameworks (DAMA-DMBOK, NIST AI RMF, COBIT, ISO 27001, ISO/IEC 42001)
- Experience with data and AI platforms and governance or compliance tools (desirable)
- Clear communicator with ability to simplify complex concepts
