We’re looking for a Commercial Lead to help shape and deliver a programme of capital works that supports Heathrow’s long-term strategy. In this role, you’ll work closely with senior stakeholders, suppliers and project teams to create commercial approaches that deliver value, manage risk and improve operational outcomes.

Working Location

Our Hybrid working approach offers the opportunity for colleagues in some roles to work from home for an average of two days a week, providing the flexibility to work in an agile way whilst ensuring we deliver for the operational needs of Heathrow. Working arrangements vary from team to team and will be confirmed during the recruitment process. You’ll need to be based in the UK and within a commutable distance to Heathrow.

You’ll become part of a team that drives excellence across everything from insurance to investment, treasury to business partnering, as you collaborate widely to deliver projects that directly impact millions of passengers each year.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead end‑to‑end procurement and contract management activity across capital programmes, ensuring robust procurement and commercial strategies are developed and executed to deliver value for money, cost certainty and risk mitigation.
  • Provide independent and constructive commercial challenge to business cases, delivery strategies and investment decisions, identifying opportunities to optimise value, manage change and reduce commercial and delivery risk.
  • Act as a trusted commercial partner to programme, engineering, delivery and finance teams, ensuring procurement and contract decisions are aligned with long‑term strategic objectives and portfolio priorities.
  • Proactively engage the external market, building strong supplier and industry relationships to understand emerging delivery models, technology, innovation and best practice, and embed these insights into procurement strategies and programme delivery.
  • Build, lead and develop a high‑performing commercial team, capable of responding effectively to project complexity, scope change and market volatility, while maintaining a strong focus on benefits realisation, affordability and value for money.

Qualifications

  • Proven ability to manage a pipeline of procurement activities, delivering both financial and non-financial benefits.
  • Experience leading large-scale or complex capital projects, including development of procurement and commercial strategies.
  • Ability to develop and implement commercial models that respond to market insight and deliver measurable value improvements.
  • Experience working with NEC ECC contracts or similar construction frameworks.
  • Strong contract management experience, including variations, claims, performance and compliance within construction or capital delivery environments.
  • Skilled in analysing commercial risks and challenging project assumptions to ensure robust and cost-effective plans.
  • Background in integrated project teams or supplier-partnering environments.
  • Demonstrable experience working with senior stakeholders to influence commercial decisions and align strategies across multiple teams.
  • Desirable qualifications: CIPS or RICS qualifications.
