We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Senior Play Worker to join our team at Heathland's Community Pre-school and Out of School Club. The ideal candidate will be passionate about working with children from 4-12 years, providing a safe and engaging environment for their play and development. This role offers an excellent opportunity to utilise management and leadership skills within a nurturing environment. The Play Worker will be responsible for fostering positive interactions, encouraging creativity, and ensuring the well-being of all children in their care. The right candidate needs to show good leadership skills to lead a small team to ensure the best care is delivered to the children.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise children during playtime, ensuring their safety at all times.
  • Organise and facilitate age-appropriate and stimulating activities, indoor and outdoor, that encourages their overall development.
  • Support children in developing communication skills through engaging conversations and activities.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment within the nursery/play area.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to plan programmes that meet the developmental needs of children.
  • Communicate effectively with parents or guardians regarding children's progress and behaviour.
  • Uphold policies related to child safeguarding and health & safety regulations.
  • Demonstrate leadership by managing group activities and guiding less experienced team members when necessary.

Experience:

  • Proven experience working with children in childcare settings, nurseries, or early childhood education environments.
  • A good level of management and leadership abilities in supervising groups of children or teams of staff.
  • Experience with organising educational or recreational activities tailored for young children.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, with the ability to engage effectively with children, parents, and colleagues.
  • Childcare qualifications or nursery experience are highly desirable.
