The English department at Manor CE Academy is a dedicated, creative and highly successful team of subject specialists. The department occupies seven full sized classrooms, all equipped with PCs, projectors and visualisers. We share a workroom, which becomes a place for the team to congregate during breaks, fostering an extremely supportive and friendly atmosphere. All Manor teaching staff engage in research-led staff development to collaboratively improve practice, and within English, our culture of sharing ideas and strategies leads to innovative and dynamic teaching across the year groups.

In Key Stage 3, all students follow a varied English curriculum, balancing different skills, genres and eras, embedding the skills and knowledge to make them successful in their GCSEs and beyond. All students study both Eduqas English Language and AQA English Literature GCSE courses in Years 10 and 11. As a team we are looking to continually deepen our understanding of successful approaches to teaching GCSE and to improve our delivery of content through sharing best practice, not least by drawing on the expertise of examiners within the department. Our curriculum is carefully structured and well-resourced, seeking to foster a love of the subject in all learners. We seek to make good use of online resources and students' iPads to enhance their learning.

Our safeguarding system is underpinned by a range of policies and procedures which encourage and promote safe working practice across the Trust. On joining you will be required to undergo continuous professional development to maintain safe working practice and to safeguard our children and young people.

The salary is dependent on current qualifications and experience, please see the attached job description for more information.
