We are looking to appoint a permanent Nurture Teacher on a 1 FTE basis to join our team at The Compass Academy. Compass Academy is a unique setting which supports KS3 pupils with complex social, emotional and mental health needs in addition to identified SEND needs. Due to the increase in SEND needs across the Academy, we are seeking to recruit an additional Nurture teacher to deliver a holistic curriculum to some of our most vulnerable pupils.
The main focus of the Nurture Teacher's role is fostering the learning and progress of the pupils in their care. This involves being an effective teacher of pupils as well as of the subject. Quality of preparation, resourcing, planning, subject expertise, teaching skill, pace, challenge, proactive classroom management, effective marking and assessment, high expectations, and positive personal relationships are all central to providing the conditions within which pupils' personal skills, abilities, understanding, learning and progress can be developed.
Experience of teaching in a Nurture provision is preferred though the Academy are open to applications from all candidates (including Primary trained specialists).
