The predicted salary is between 9287 - 10094 £ per year.

This role supports the placement of students with special educational needs and disabilities onto work experience and supported internships. The successful candidate will develop skills across a wide range of activities and work closely with other staff to deliver a high-quality SEN support service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and group interventions that encourage SEN learners to engage and achieve realistic, challenging goals.
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date records of learning targets, assessments, achievements, progression plans and work placement activities on ProMonitor and other systems.
  • Manage a flexible caseload, prioritising learners with attendance, retention, achievement or support needs.
  • Assist in pre-entry activities such as recruitment, open events, enrolment, and assessment of support needs.
  • Deliver initial assessment activities, set SMART targets and track progress.
  • Support learners in overcoming learning barriers and develop innovative practice.
  • Collaborate with delivery staff to provide comprehensive group tutorials and provide cover when required.
  • Prepare, support and monitor learners in undertaking work placements and internships; negotiate with employers to secure arrangements.
  • Assist in the organisation and maintenance of placement files, databases and statistics to evaluate service impact.
  • Publicise programmes to prospective students, parents and referral agents.
  • Deliver first aid at College to students, staff and visitors.
  • Assist in DBS checks, ensure compliance with legal requirements for work placement provision, and attend required training such as safeguarding, equality and diversity.

General Accountabilities

  • Safeguard and promote the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
  • Participate in the College’s Performance Management and Quality Systems.
  • Continually improve teaching, learning and assessment through CPD and best practice sharing.
  • Adhere to GDPR, data protection and confidentiality duties.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in support for SEN learners.
  • Knowledge of SEN provision, work placement and supported internships.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Experience working with learners with SEN is desirable.
  • Must complete an Enhanced DBS check and provide two satisfactory references.

Employment Conditions

All successful candidates will be subject to the College’s Conditions of Service for Business Support Staff, including a 6-month probationary period and necessary statutory training.
