Job Description
The appointment is subject to the Conditions of Service for Business Support Staff. The role requires compliance with College policies and standard checks as part of the recruitment and employment process.
Conditions of Service
All successful applicants will undergo required checks:
- Enhanced DBS
- 2 references, one of which must be your current or most recent employer
- Qualification validation check
Salary
The salary range for this post is from £8,386 - £8,667 per annum. Starting salary depends on qualifications and experience. After successfully passing probation, salary will progress within the band on an annual incremental basis until the top of the scale.
Hours of Work
14 hours per week for 40 weeks per year.
Annual Leave
This is a term-time appointment. You will receive a payment in lieu of holiday, in addition to your salary. You will also be paid for statutory Bank Holidays and concessionary days that fall within your working week.
Pension Scheme
The College operates an occupational pension scheme: Local Government Pension Scheme.
Probationary Period
Newly appointed staff have a 6-month probationary period. During probation, you must complete the Corporate staff induction, and any mandatory sessions (Equality & Diversity, Safeguarding, Prevent, GDPR, Cyber Security, Health & Safety, and Teaching and Learning Induction where applicable). Failure to complete these requirements may affect probation success.
First Aid & Fire Marshall
Staff with these responsibilities are required to undertake first aid and/or fire marshal duties as needed. Training must be kept up to date.
References
Two satisfactory references must be received before the end of the probationary period for probation to be successfully completed.
Location
The successful applicant will be based across campuses but may be required to work at other locations from time to time.
Validation of Qualifications
The College will undertake qualification validation by writing to the appropriate educational institute. Only essential qualifications for the post will be followed up.
Contractual Requirement to Obtain a Qualification
If a qualification is a contractual requirement, the College reviews its CPD budget annually and cannot guarantee funding for course fees. Student loan facilities are available.
Maths and English
A minimum level 2 qualification in both English and Maths is required. If not held, you will be expected to obtain them during employment.
Safeguarding
The College is committed to safeguarding and promoting welfare. All staff and volunteers must share this commitment and undertake safeguarding training following appointment. Induction includes reading Keeping Children Safe in Education Part 1 as applicable.

Disclosure & Barring (DBS)
All successful applicants will complete and pay for a DBS check. Costs are deducted from the first salary payment. The College adheres to the DBS Code of Practice; policies on Disclosure and Offenders exist and are available on request.
