Job
Title: Personal Tutor (Temporary – Maternity Leave cover) – splits between Hair & Beauty and Hospitality Departments.
- Key Roles and Accountabilities
- Follow direction of the Curriculum Resource and Quality Leader for content and delivery of group tutorial programmes and liaise with Learner Services Staff and Learning Centres.
- Participate in the design and delivery of curriculum‑specific induction and tutorial programmes.
- Encourage development of a positive group identity and a sense of belonging among students.
- Assist students during induction to facilitate a smooth transition into courses.
- Coordinate and deliver an active group and support tutorial programme bespoke to the curriculum area.
- Provide advice and guidance on study skills, learning strategies and independent learning.
- Collaborate with the Careers Service to provide information on career and progression pathways.
- Set target grades, monitor progress, track attendance, and advise on intervention tactics.
- Provide feedback to students to improve performance and develop personal development skills.
- Use the College ILP system to monitor attendance and progress, support students to access ILPs.
- Advocate for vulnerable student groups and maintain accurate student records.
- Assist with references for further or higher education and employment, and support students with disciplinary processes.
- Work with CRQ Leaders and the curriculum team to ensure learners achieve targets.
- Prepare lesson plans and resources aligned with the scheme of work and learning outcomes.
- Use appropriate ITL techniques and support students in delivering assessments.
- Advise curriculum staff, support student interviews, and contribute to the College’s self‑assessment processes.
