We are seeking an experienced, organised, and passionate instructor to join our Public Services and Sports department. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to acquire new skills and develop their abilities across a wide range of activities. Key roles and accountabilities:
- Teach across Level 1–5 Sport and Public Services programmes.
- Contribute to the development of new courses in these areas.
- Support learner recruitment, providing clear advice and guidance.
- Deliver high‑quality teaching through planned learning, effective monitoring, regular assessment, and constructive feedback.
- Embed and signpost Functional Skills where appropriate.
- Use and develop new technology to enhance teaching, learning, and assessment.
- Produce schemes of work, lesson plans, assessments, and learning materials.
- Mark and assess learner work, providing timely and helpful feedback.
- Maintain accurate learner records, ILPs, progress tracking, and administrative systems.

General accountabilities:

Conditions of service:
- Hours: Various hours available. Actual hours to be agreed with manager.
- Annual leave: 37 days plus eight public bank holidays and five concessionary days. Pro‑rata for part‑time.
- Pension scheme: Teachers Pension.
- Probationary period: 9 months with mandatory induction and training.
- Salary: Up to £41,413 per year; starting salary depends on experience and qualifications. Incremental increases each year.
Required qualifications and experience:
- Appropriate teaching qualification, or willingness to undertake and achieve the Certificate in Education and Training within 2 years.
- Minimum Level 2 qualification in English and Maths or willingness to obtain during employment.
- Experience teaching at Level 1‑5 in Sport or Public Services preferred.
- Experience in curriculum design and assessment recommended.
- Reference from current or most recent employer; Enhanced DBS with 12‑month period; 2 satisfactory references.
