KEY ROLES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Support the Campus Environment
  • Manage all buildings and address fire and intruder alarm issues
  • Perform basic maintenance (painting, repairs)
  • Maintain cleanliness and address hazards (litter, spills, broken glass)
  • Assist with grounds maintenance (weeding, shrubs, paving)
  • Coordinate with contractors and visit incoming jobs through the maintenance system
  • Operate intruder and CCTV systems, patrol campus and support safeguarding initiatives
  • Maintain incident log and liaise with police and agencies as required
  • Support College managers with facilities and security matters
  • Make furniture arrangements for rooms
  • Be on call for out-of-hours duties (allowance paid)

Operational Support

  • Carry out driving duties for postal delivery and vehicle servicing
  • Record monthly utility meter readings
  • Promote the College’s sustainability policy
  • Assist with supplier deliveries and distribution

Health and Safety

  • Conduct statutory testing of fire protection systems
  • Comply with Health and Safety legislation

GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Commit to safeguarding and welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults
  • Participate in performance management and training events
  • Engage in CPD and share best practice
  • Support quality improvement strategies and initiatives
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Ensure health and safety for self and others
  • Support safeguarding, equality and diversity policies
  • Carry out HR tasks within GDPR principles

CONDITIONS OF SERVICE

Appointment subject to the Conditions of Service for Business Support Staff. Enhanced DBS, two references and qualification validation required.

SALARY & HOURS

Salary range £24,675 – £26,821 per annum, based on qualifications and experience. 37 hours per week, 52 weeks a year.

ANNUAL LEAVE

25 annual leave days, plus eight public bank holidays and five concessionary days. After 2 years, entitlement increases to 30 days per annum.

PENSION

Participate in the Local Government Pension Scheme.

PROBATION & TRAINING

6-month probation, completion of induction and mandatory training (Equality, Safeguarding, GDPR, Health & Safety, Fire Marshal if applicable).

Disclosure & Barring Service check is required and cost deducted from first salary. Online checks and authorised DBS conducted. Equal treatment irrespective of background.
