Heart of Worcestershire College is seeking a dedicated and experienced Plumbing Lecturer to deliver high‑quality teaching across our Worcester and Redditch campuses, with flexibility to travel to other sites as required.

The role supports the college’s commitment to inclusive education, diversity, and excellence in practical plumbing and construction training.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach across a range of plumbing programmes and related subjects.
  • Develop and update courses and accompanying learning materials.
  • Recruit and support learners, providing guidance and encouragement.
  • Deliver an engaging, well‑structured learning experience with clear assessment and timely feedback.
  • Contextualise and signpost functional skills where applicable.
  • Incorporate and assess new technology in teaching and assessment.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate curriculum, lesson plans, and assessment schedules.
  • Participate in curriculum meetings and contribute to continuous quality improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain administration records, learner ILPs, progress, and performance data.
  • Liaise with other departments such as Exams and MIS.
  • Implement safe working practices across the programme area.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Relevant teaching qualification or willingness to obtain the Certificate in Education and Training within 2 years of appointment.
  • Minimum level 2 qualifications in English and Maths.
  • Practical experience in the plumbing industry.
  • Experience of delivering apprentice or further education courses is an asset.
  • Salary

The starting salary will be within the £25,599 – £39,725 per annum band, dependent on experience and qualifications, with salary review after successful completion of probation.

Conditions of Service

Appointment is subject to the college’s Conditions of Service for Academic Staff.

Hours of work are 37 hours per week (17.5 hours delivery).

Annual leave is 37 days plus public holidays, with additional concessionary days.

A 9‑month probationary period applies, with required training and induction programmes.
