Heart of Worcestershire College is recruiting a High Needs Coordinator to support students with high support needs across the college.

Closing Date: 24/06/2026

Salary: £31,466 – £34,291 per annum (depending on experience and qualifications).

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the college’s role in statutory assessments and EHC plans, ensuring appropriate support and funding.
  • Liaise with high‑needs students, parents, Local Authorities and external agencies throughout assessment and review processes.
  • Act as the college’s named EHC plan coordinator and manage reviews under the Specialist Learning Support Lead.
  • Promote positive outcomes for learners with SEN, including employment, education and independence.
  • Support learner assessment, target setting, reviews, transitions and progression monitoring.
  • Advise staff on implementing effective support and meeting learner needs.
  • Report regularly to senior leaders and undertake other appropriate duties as required.
  • Lead negotiations regarding appropriate funding bands and identified support needs required from the local authority.
  • Ensure all EHC plans are tracked, matched to appropriate funding bands and recorded via relevant systems including MIS.
  • Maintain personal files and EHC plans for high needs learners; coordinate completion of all relevant paperwork.
  • Assist in the delivery of advice and guidance to learners regarding vocational interests.
  • Contribute to the college’s ‘local offer’ information, advice and guidance services for students with SEN.
  • Participate in team meetings, reviews, and meetings with Local Authorities.
  • Support team members in ensuring effective implementation and monitoring of learner progression.
  • Contribute to the common inspection framework for self-assessment and comply with health and safety regulations.

Qualifications

  • Self‑motivated and autonomous, with excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Sound knowledge of learners with special educational needs (SEN) and experience in supporting high needs students.
  • Experience of working with statutory assessment processes and EHC planning.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation (e.g., SEN 2014) and best practice in specialist learning support.
  • Previous experience liaising with Local Authorities, external agencies and schools.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across campus and be prepared to travel to other campuses as required.
