Contract: Flexible temporary roles (day‑to‑day, short‑term and long‑term)

Salary: £32,916‑£45,351 per annum (depending on experience and/or qualifications)

About the role:

Great Science teaching inspires curiosity, builds critical thinking, and helps students connect ideas to the real world. If you’re a skilled teacher who loves seeing that “aha” moment in a student, we want to hear from you. At Heart of Supply, you choose the days you work and the schools that suit your specialism. Focus on delivering engaging, hands‑on lessons while we provide practical, supportive backing.

We’re looking for Science teachers who can step into classrooms and set the tone from the first moment. You’ll explain complex concepts clearly, manage behaviour effectively, and create structured, focused learning environments. Confident teaching across Key Stages 3 and 4 (and potentially Key Stage 5), adapting lessons for different abilities, and bringing your subject knowledge and professionalism will make a real impact.

We’re fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people, and vulnerable adults. All applicants will undergo thorough vetting, including enhanced DBS (with children’s barred list check and Update Service registration), references, and online checks as part of our compliance process.

What you will need:

  • QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) with recent UK secondary Science classroom experience
  • Strong Science subject knowledge and ability to teach across Key Stages 3 and 4 (KS5 is desirable)
  • Confident, consistent behaviour management in secondary settings
  • Ability to build quick rapport with students and colleagues in a Science classroom
  • A proactive, adaptable approach with a genuine passion for teaching Science
  • At least 6 weeks’ UK teaching experience in secondary schools

What we offer you:

  • Competitive weekly PAYE pay
  • Roles tailored to your lifestyle - day‑to‑day or longer term
  • Access to exclusive opportunities in great local schools
  • A friendly, experienced consultant who listens
  • Free CPD and ongoing professional development
  • A simple “Refer a Friend” scheme
  • A warm, supportive agency that genuinely cares about you and your journey
