About the role

We are really pleased to be recruiting General Cover Teachers to work across a wide mix of schools and subjects. At Heart of Supply, we work with teachers from all backgrounds, whether you are an English, Maths or Science specialist, or you come from Humanities, PE, Computing, Creative Arts, Technology or Languages. If you enjoy stepping into different classrooms and making a positive impact, a General Cover Teacher role could be a great fit.

As a General Cover Teacher, you will be delivering lessons using prepared work or drawing on your own subject knowledge, helping to keep learning ticking along when schools need cover. You will play an important part in creating calm, well-managed classrooms and supporting students to stay focused and engaged throughout the day.

We offer General Cover Teacher opportunities that are flexible and shaped around you. That might be day to day cover if you like variety, longer term bookings if you prefer more consistency, or a combination of both. We take the time to really listen, matching each General Cover Teacher with schools that suit your experience, availability and what you are looking for, so the role works for you as much as it works for the school.

About the school/us

Heart of Supply works closely with a range of secondary schools across Lincoln and nearby areas, creating opportunities in settings that are supportive and welcoming. Our partner schools include academies and local authority schools, along with specialist secondary SEND provisions, so there is plenty of variety depending on your experience and interests.

Whether you enjoy teaching in mainstream secondary classrooms or supporting students with additional needs, we aim to match you with schools where you feel comfortable and confident. As part of our secondary supply team, you will get to know different school communities, work alongside committed staff and be backed by a team that recognises and values the contribution you make each day.

What you will need:

  • QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) & recent UK secondary classroom experience
  • Strong subject knowledge & flexibility to teach across KS3 and KS4
  • Confident, respectful behaviour management
  • Ability to build quick rapport with students and colleagues
  • A proactive, adaptable approach and genuine passion for your subject
  • At least 6 weeks’ UK teaching experience (including placements)

We’re fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people, and vulnerable adults. All applicants will undergo thorough vetting, including enhanced DBS (with children’s barred list check and Update Service registration), references, and online checks as part of our compliance process.

What we offer you:

  • Competitive weekly PAYE pay
  • Roles tailored to your lifestyle - day-to-day or longer term
  • Access to exclusive opportunities in great local schools
  • A friendly, experienced consultant who listens
  • Free CPD and ongoing professional development
  • A simple ‘Refer a Friend’ scheme
  • A warm, supportive agency that genuinely cares about you and your journey

Heart of Supply is proud to be an equal opportunities employer and welcomes applications from all suitably qualified candidates. We do not discriminate on the grounds of age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage or civil partnership, pregnancy or maternity, race, religion or belief, sex, or sexual orientation. All appointments are made in line with safer recruitment practices.
