The predicted salary is between 31500 - 38500 Β£ per year.

As a teaching assistant apprentice, you will support teaching staff in the classroom and be involved in the development, implementation and evaluation of pupils' individual progress. You may also support individual children in class, and work with small groups of children within or outside the classroom.

What you'll do at work:

  • Work under the direction of the teacher to raise pupil attainment and maintain a well-ordered environment.
  • Work closely with children to enable them to access a full and rich curriculum within which they can make progress.
  • Implement strategies to support pupils, such as giving further explanations, adapting work, prompting or encouraging concentration and participation.
  • Assist with the assessment and recording of pupil progress.
  • Deliver planned activities to a small group or individual pupils.
  • Organise materials and resources for lessons.
  • Promote inclusive education and integration and help in the development of relationships by encouraging appropriate interaction between pupils.
  • Support the class teacher in managing behaviour and promoting good behaviour around the school.
  • Liaise with the class teacher about individual children's learning.
  • Undertake playground duties as part of a rota.
  • Attend training and meetings.
  • Comply with the procedures relating to child protection, health, safety and security, confidentiality and reporting concerns to an appropriate person.
  • Undertake any other duties reasonably required by the class teacher or Head teacher.

Requirements:

Essential qualifications: English (grade 4), Maths (grade 4). Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.

Other requirements: The post may involve working with children who have special educational needs. The job requires patience and the ability to cope with change, including last-minute or short-notice changes. You will need a good level of spoken and written English as well as a good level of maths understanding as you may be placed anywhere from Year 1 to Year 6.
