We are now looking for an experienced and passionate Learning & Development Specialist to lead the operational delivery of learning and development activity across our Society. This is an exciting opportunity to shape colleague development, strengthen leadership capability and help build a positive learning culture across a diverse and growing business.
About the Role
Reporting to the Head of HR, you will lead the delivery of learning initiatives across all divisions of the Society. You will oversee learning delivery, leadership development, compliance training and colleague capability, whilst managing our learning and development team. Working closely with operational leaders, you will design and deliver engaging, practical and commercially focused learning solutions that support colleague growth and business performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the operational delivery of learning and development activity across the Society
- Design and deliver engaging learning programmes that support operational performance and colleague development
- Support the development of leadership and management capability across all divisions
- Partner with operational leaders to identify training needs and recommend practical learning solutions
- Lead, coach and support the learning and development team
- Oversee onboarding, induction and mandatory compliance training
- Support succession planning and internal talent development initiatives
- Contribute to the development of learning pathways and career progression opportunities
- Support the implementation of digital and blended learning solutions
- Monitor and evaluate learning effectiveness, making recommendations for continuous improvement
- Maintain accurate learning records and compliance data
- Support wider People and organisational development initiatives where required
About You
We are looking for someone who is passionate about colleague development and creating engaging learning experiences within an operational environment. You will ideally have:
- Experience within a Learning & Development, Training or Organisational Development role
- Experience designing and delivering learning programmes
- Strong facilitation, stakeholder management and communication skills
- Experience supporting leadership and management development
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- A practical, commercially aware and operationally focused approach
It would also be beneficial if you have:
- Experience within retail, hospitality, funeral care or other multi-site operational environments
- Experience using Learning Management Systems (LMS)
- Experience developing eLearning or digital learning content
- CIPD or recognised L&D qualifications
- Coaching experience or qualification
