Join Heart of England Mencap and help people with learning disabilities lead fulfilling lives where they can thrive and reach their full potential. We're looking for a committed and enthusiastic Support Worker to join our Short Breaks Service team at Valley Road. Valley Road is a four-bedroom home providing a welcoming, home-from-home environment for customers aged 18 to their mid-50s. Stays range from one night to two weeks, giving customers the opportunity to build independence, develop new skills and enjoy meaningful experiences.

About the Role
Working as part of a friendly and experienced team, you will support customers with all aspects of daily living while promoting independence, choice and wellbeing. Activities may include:
- Cooking and baking
- Sensory sessions
- Gardening and outdoor activities
- Basketball and football
- Visits to pubs, cafés, cinemas and parks
- Movie nights and pamper sessions
No two days are the same. You will support customers to access the community, build friendships and enjoy the activities they love.
Responsibilities include:
- Supporting customers with personal care and grooming
- Preparing meals with customers
- Administering medication
- Following support plans
- Maintaining accurate records
- Completing routine cleaning tasks
Shift Patterns
This role requires flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including days, evenings, weekends and sleep-ins. Typical shifts include:
- 7:30am - 10:00am
- 3:00pm - 10:00pm
- Sleep-in: 10:00pm - 10:00am
Split shifts may be required.
About You
- Previous care experience is preferred
- A caring, positive and reliable approach
- A willingness to learn and develop
- Flexibility to work a range of shifts, including evenings, weekends and sleep-ins
- A full UK driving licence is desirable
