Hours: Full time, 40 hours per week, Monday–Friday, 8:00am–4:00pm

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Management Accountant to join our Finance Team. This is an important role supporting the organisation with accurate financial reporting, payroll, budgeting and financial controls. You will work closely with the Head of Finance & Commissioning, operational managers and senior leadership, providing reliable financial information and supporting effective decision-making.

About the Role

You will be responsible for the day-to-day delivery of key finance processes, including:

  • Preparing monthly management accounts and financial reports
  • Managing and processing the monthly payroll
  • Preparing journals, accruals and prepayments
  • Completing balance sheet reconciliations and investigating discrepancies
  • Supporting budgeting, forecasting and budget monitoring
  • Analysing financial performance and variances
  • Maintaining financial controls and the fixed asset register
  • Supporting annual audits and statutory reporting
  • Reviewing and authorising invoices, payment runs and expenses within delegated limits
  • Providing financial guidance and support to managers
  • Supervising and supporting Finance Assistants
  • Working closely with HR regarding starters, leavers and payroll changes
  • Liaising with HMRC, pension providers and other external organisations

You will also contribute to improving finance processes and systems, ensuring work is accurate, efficient and compliant with organisational policies and statutory requirements.

About You

We are looking for someone who is organised, analytical and confident working with financial information. You will ideally have:

  • AAT qualification, part-qualification (ACCA/CIMA/ACA) or relevant experience
  • Previous experience preparing management accounts
  • Experience processing payroll and knowledge of payroll legislation and HMRC requirements
  • Experience with Sage accounting systems; Sage Payroll experience is desirable
  • Strong Excel skills, including advanced Excel
  • Experience of balance sheet reconciliations and financial analysis
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • The ability to explain financial information clearly to non-finance colleagues
  • Strong organisational and communication skills
  • A professional and confidential approach
  • A proactive, solution-focused and collaborative attitude
  • Experience of budgeting, financial reporting, audit support and working with senior management or Boards would be advantageous.
