We are looking for a compassionate and professional individual to join our Funeral Division as a Funeral Assistant on an 8-hour contract. At the Heart of England Co-operative Society, we have been serving our communities since 1832. As a member-owned organisation, we are committed to enriching lives and supporting families with care, dignity and respect at the moments that matter most.
About the Role
As a Funeral Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting families throughout the funeral journey. You'll help deliver services with the highest standards of care, ensuring every detail is handled with professionalism, empathy and respect. This is a varied, hands-on role supporting our operations across our care centres in Coventry, Nuneaton and Rugby, including assisting with funeral services and bringing loved ones into our care.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the delivery of funerals across multiple locations
- Act as a professional ambassador for the Society at all times
- Drive funeral vehicles (hearses and limousines) with care and dignity
- Provide a courteous and empathetic service to families
- Assist as a pallbearer and support ceremonial duties
- Bring the deceased into care respectfully and safely
- Prepare the deceased for viewing and funeral services
- Ensure coffins, caskets and nameplates are prepared accurately
