The Role... Reporting into HearstMade’s Commercial and Marketing Design Lead, HearstMade’s Freelance Junior Designer is responsible for the execution and delivery of commercial and marketing content across all Hearst brands. You will design across multiple platforms - digital, print, social, video and events - and be able to translate briefs into highly creative visual content.

Main duties...

  • Conceptualise ideas for high-quality designs across digital, print, social and video platforms.
  • Create design assets for commercial content campaigns that meet client objectives while upholding the creative vision of each Hearst brand.
  • Execute brilliant multi-platform marketing campaigns for the marketing team, on time and with excellent attention to detail.
  • Oversee and own bigger and more complex design projects, addressing challenging situations with minimal guidance.
  • Provide mentorship to junior designers within the team, fostering a collaborative and creative work environment and providing guidance on design principles, industry trends, and project execution.
  • Proactively come up with ideas to streamline processes and enhance the team's overall productivity, taking accountability for team deliverables and motivating others.
  • Build strong relationships with other teams across the business, leading conversations where people may have conflicting views and helping them work towards a shared solution.
  • Prioritise and process design tasks efficiently, meeting tight deadlines without compromising quality.
  • Share design insights and creative best practice with the wider HearstMade team to boost content performance.

You are required to be an ambassador of Hearst UK and its values. You may be required to undertake such further duties as your skills, qualifications and experience allow and/or as may be assigned to you from time to time.

What We Are Looking For...

  • Proven experience in commercial and/or marketing design, with a strong portfolio showcasing successful multi-platform campaigns.
  • Ability to use initiative to solve problems, taking a proactive, positive and solution-focused approach to any challenging situation.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to articulate design concepts and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise work effectively and apply ‘out-of-the-box’ thinking.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment while remaining calm and professional under pressure.
  • A customer-centric mindset with a keen understanding of commercial/marketing needs and the ability to deliver solutions that exceed expectation.
  • Expertise in design software, including but not limited to Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects). Knowledge of emerging design tools and technologies is a plus.
  • Video specific skills are desirable but not essential.
  • Knowledge of The Brief (AI program) and Celtra is desirable but not essential.
