The Role… As a Food & Drink Tester, you will play a key role within the Good Housekeeping Institute, helping to uphold its trusted reputation for rigorous, impartial product testing. Working closely with the Food & Drink team, as well as editorial and commercial stakeholders across Hearst UK, you’ll test everything from festive favourites to emerging wellness products. Your insights will shape authoritative content across many avenues of Good Housekeeping — guiding consumers with confidence and clarity in their purchasing decisions.

Main Duties…

  • Plan, organise and deliver product testing across the Food & Drink category, including taste tests, bench tests and consumer panels.
  • Manage and analyse testing data using Excel, producing clear summaries and results to support editorial and commercial content.
  • Conduct product and market research to identify trends, inform testing programmes and ensure coverage reflects the current marketplace.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to coordinate product deliveries, testing schedules and day-to-day project activity.
  • Communicate testing outcomes clearly and accurately to relevant stakeholders, ensuring results are robust, impartial and easy to understand.
  • Rigorously fact-check testing data, product information and editorial content, ensuring all results are accurately recorded, consistently applied and presented to the highest standards—embracing the detail-focused nature of testing that underpins trusted consumer advice.
  • Support content creation by checking factual accuracy in editorial material and, on occasion, contributing to on-camera or video content.

What We Are Looking For…

  • Demonstrable interest in food and drink products, with practical hands-on skills including a basic level of cooking or food preparation.
  • Strong computer literacy, particularly in Excel for data handling and analysis, alongside confident use of Word and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent written communication skills, with a high standard of grammar, spelling and attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, working accurately to deadlines in a structured and organised manner.
  • Confident interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team, and to engage professionally with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • A methodical, objective and reliable approach to work, including the ability to assess products honestly and handle repetitive, detail-focused tasks with consistency.
  • Previous experience in hospitality and/or alcohol tasting is desirable, but not essential.
