House of Hearst, 30 Panton Street, St James's, London, SW1Y 4AJ , where teams collaborate in person and connect across brands and functions.
Salary - £41,000 - £46,000 - Salary is dependent on experience and will be assessed in line with the candidate’s skills, knowledge, and relevant expertise.
The Role…
As Features Editor, Red (maternity cover) you will play a key role in shaping the overall content of the Red brand.
Your creativity, strategic thinking and solid editing skills will be essential in delivering engaging and captivating features content that resonates with our audience.
Main Duties…
- Conceive, commission and edit features for the print magazine, bringing fresh, engaging ideas and ensuring a smooth workflow and timely delivery of content that meets the highest standard of writing, accuracy and style.
- Draw upon existing relationships with industry professionals, including writers, authors, book publishers and publicity contacts, ensuring the brand is across new releases, trends, ideas and voices.
- Contribute and edit features for the brand’s digital platforms, including
- Red Online and the weekly
Love Red membership newsletter.
- Collaborate with the visual, production, digital, newsletter, social and membership teams, ensuring open and clear communication channels and that features are represented across platforms.
- Work alongside the Editor-in-Chief and Deputy Editor to shape brand strategy and contribute creative ideas, as part of a small brand team.
- Manage the commissioning budget for features and ensure invoices are processed in a timely manner.
- Represent the
Red brand at external events and in the media as required.
- To be an ambassador of Hearst UK and its values.
- You may be required to undertake such further duties as your skills, qualifications and experience allow and/or as may be assigned to you from time to time.

- Extensive experience working in features, running a features desk or overseeing an editorial section for a national newspaper or magazine. - Essential
- Excellent writing, commissioning and editing skills, with a keen eye for detail and a strong sense of storytelling.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
