The role of the Social Manager, Good Housekeeping, is to hit our traffic and monetisation targets on Facebook while increasing our reach and engagement on other social platforms, primarily Instagram, as a way to drive more people into membership. As part of the GH brand team you will oversee all social output for Good Housekeeping, ensuring that we have an agreed and followed strategy to hit our targets for revenue, page views, reach and engagement, growing new members while continuing to engage existing ones.

Main duties

  • Oversee all social media output, primarily across Facebook, Instagram and TikTok.
  • Ensure the brand has a clear multiplatform strategy for on-site editorial and native social content that delivers traffic, revenue, reach, engagement and ultimately new and engaged members.
  • Have creative, on‑brand ideas around cover stars, GH events, original social‑first video franchises, commercial partnerships, memberships and relevant breaking news to help our social content stand out.
  • Produce regular reporting, using tools such as Dash Social, True Anthem and Google Analytics, to provide actionable insights to help shape the brand’s content strategies.
  • Ideate, film and edit social‑first video to help us hit our relevant targets.
  • Monitor competitors and communicate lessons from their successes.
  • Monitor and stay up to date with industry trends, ensuring these updates are shared with the wider team.

What We’re Looking For

Essential

  • Managing social media accounts, with demonstrable success in driving engagement, traffic and audience growth, alongside a strong understanding of how publishers operate across social platforms.
  • Shooting, editing and posting engaging native content, including social video, for a range of social platforms, including deep experience of Meta.
  • Working with the Meta monetisation programme, with strong familiarity with how it works and the content guidelines.
  • Having strategic goals for Instagram and an understanding of where it sits in a journey to getting people to become more valuable customers/members.
  • Good internal communication with stakeholders at all levels – understanding what their priorities are and being able to advocate for your own in an effective manner.
  • Use of social tools (we use Dash Hudson and True Anthem but others are fine), with real experience of getting value from functions such as analytics, competitor analysis, research and planning.
  • A clear, accurate and creative writing tone.
  • Delivering in-depth and actionable analysis and reporting across all social media platforms that drives new ways of approaching things.
  • An ability to quickly pivot to new ways of working and strategies as and when industry changes happen across social media platforms.
