Hearst UK operates a hybrid working model of four days per week in the office and one day working from home. Our office is based at House of Hearst, 30 Panton Street, St James's, London, SW1Y 4AJ, where teams collaborate in person and connect across brands and functions.
As the Management Accountant for Advertising, you will join Hearst UK at an exciting time, playing a key role in supporting the continued growth of our advertising and events business. You'll deliver accurate financial reporting and provide valuable commercial insight, working closely with both finance and non-finance stakeholders to influence decision-making and drive profitability. This is a hands-on, high-impact role within the Reporting & Planning team, combining management accounting, analysis and business partnering in a fast-paced commercial environment. This role is a 12 Month Fixed Term Contract
Main Duties:
- Prepare accurate monthly management accounts, including revenue and cost reporting, with clear variance analysis against forecast, budget and prior year.
- Business partner with the advertising and events teams, providing insight, analysis and recommendations to support commercial decision-making and maximise profitability.
- Take ownership of month-end processes, including accruals and prepayments, ensuring accurate journal postings supported by sound judgement and data.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts to an auditable standard, including maintaining clear supporting documentation, ageing analysis and identifying risks and opportunities.
- Deliver additional analysis and reporting to meet stakeholder needs, translating financial data into clear, actionable insights.
- Continuously review processes to identify inefficiencies, recommending and implementing improvements to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
What We Are Looking For:
- Proven experience in a Management Accountant or business partnering role, with strong commercial awareness.
- Part-qualified (or studying towards) ACCA/CIMA or equivalent financial qualification.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret large data sets and translate findings into clear, meaningful insights.
- Advanced Excel skills, with confidence working methodically with complex data.
- Excellent communication skills, able to present financial information clearly to both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
- Highly organised, with the ability to prioritise effectively and meet tight deadlines.
- Detail-oriented, with a strong focus on accuracy while maintaining a broader commercial perspective.
- Proactive and solutions-focused, with experience identifying and improving processes.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective working relationships across the business.
- Experience with systems such as AdPoint or Salesforce is desirable.
