Hearst UK operates a hybrid working model of four days per week in the office and one day working from home. Our office is based at House of Hearst, 30 Panton Street, St James’s, London, SW1Y 4AJ, where teams collaborate in person and connect across brands and functions.

The Role

You will ensure the content of Cosmopolitan, Prima, Red, Men’s Health, Women’s Health and Runner’s World is accurate, legal, of an excellent standard and adheres to each title’s tone and house style. You will assist the Group Chief Sub Editor and Chief Sub Editor to coordinate workflow and production process of content for the six brands, from raw copy through to sending pages to press and other platforms, ensuring deadlines are met.

Main Duties

  • Deputise for the Group Chief Sub Editor/Chief Sub Editor in their absence.
  • Manage workflow and coordinate the production cycles of the six brands in partnership with the Group Chief Sub Editor.
  • Police copy deadlines to ensure a consistent flow of copy and layouts.
  • Sub high‑standard content, ensuring copy is accurate, fact‑checked and follows each brand’s house style.
  • Provide creative input and elevate pages through on‑brand captions, headlines and rewriting of copy, especially for international reuse content where references, jokes and tone may differ.
  • Check the work of Sub Editors to ensure it meets desired standards.
  • Liaise with the Women’s Lifestyle and Wellness art hubs about the flow of layouts.
  • Refer copy/layouts to the legal department where necessary.
  • Check with writers, contributors and content editors where necessary.
  • Circulate page proofs throughout the brand editorial teams and incorporate corrections as directed.
  • Liaise with production to manage sending pages to press.
  • Liaise with marketing, digital and subscriptions departments over relevant pages to ensure requirements are met.
