Curious about how TV brands communicate with their audiences? Want to play a hands-on role in shaping how content is promoted across multiple markets? Comfortable working with data, sharing your ideas, and staying on top of the detail? Join our Media Planning team at Hearst Networks EMEA as a Media Planning Coordinator, where you’ll help plan, deliver and optimise promo campaigns that ensure our content reaches the right audiences.
About the Role and Team
Media Planning sits at the heart of our Marketing & Communications department. It’s about strategically communicating with our audience to ensure they find the content they love, using our most valuable owned marketing channel, promo airtime, to build awareness of our programmes and brands. This is a hands-on role where you’ll take ownership of campaigns from planning through to execution and evaluation. As a Media Planning Coordinator, you’ll create, deliver and analyse promo campaigns across Hearst Networks brands, both in the UK and internationally. You’ll be working with data, creative teams, and key stakeholders to ensure our content promotion reaches the right audience in the right way. This is an entry-level role with a structured training and development plan, designed to build your media planning expertise and support your progression within the field. This is a permanent position. This role will be hybrid based in the London office, working on award-winning brands like HISTORY and Crime+Investigation.
Key Responsibilities
- Create coherent media plans based on sound strategic reasoning and historical data; asking questions such as: how many viewers do we need to reach with this campaign? Who is our target audience? How many times do they need to see it before they understand, and are excited by, our content?
- Track and optimise campaign performance, monitoring promotional inventory and analysing results against targets.
- Share clear, concise updates in meetings and written communications.
- Evaluate campaign outcomes, identifying what worked (and what didn’t), and applying those learnings to continuously improve future activity.
- Collaborate with our Media Planning partners at Sky to identify and deliver cross-promotion opportunities that maximise reach and impact.
- Work closely with the Presentation team, clearly communicating campaign goals and making adjustments in real time to keep campaigns on track.
- Commission all relevant assets for your campaign e.g. promos, bumpers, idents etc.
- Working closely with the Creative and Production teams to ensure they have all the correct information to create these assets.
- Support the wider Media Planning and Marcomms teams, contributing to projects and ad-hoc work as part of a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
To be successful in this role, we are looking for someone who can demonstrate the following key competencies:
- Presenting and communicating information
- Working with people
- Analysing
- Planning and organising
- Adapting and responding to change
As a person you will be…
- Comfortable speaking up and sharing your point of view, whether in team meetings or with wider stakeholders.
- On top of the details, able to juggle multiple tasks and keep things organised without losing sight of deadlines.
- Naturally curious, with a mindset of “how could this be better?” even when working on repeat tasks.
- Someone who takes initiative, but also values being part of a supportive, collaborative team.
- Calm and adaptable when plans change, able to adjust quickly and keep campaigns on track.
- Someone who takes ownership, building strong working relationships and knowing when to run with something independently or ask for input.
Minimum Requirements
- Demonstrated understanding of media planning and how this role aligns with your career interests.
- Clear and concise communication skills, with the ability to translate complex data or ideas into simple, engaging insights for a range of stakeholders.
- Comfortable working with numbers and data, with strong attention to detail and a willingness to learn new tools and systems.
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise effectively and manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Good editorial judgement, with the ability to make informed, audience-aware decisions by combining data with sound reasoning, including in time-pressured situations.
- Application includes a cover letter, demonstrating motivation for the role and evidence of relevant thinking or experience.
Desirable Requirements
- Awareness of On-Air communication styles, with an understanding of how linear TV channels engage audiences (e.g. through continuity, voiceovers, and promotions), and how this differs from VOD platforms.
- Familiarity with marketing and media terminology.
- Knowledge of Hearst Networks’ brands and programming.
- Experience working with data or analytical tasks, with the ability to interpret information and draw insights.
