Hearst UK operate a hybrid working model of four days per week in the office and one day working from home. Our office is based at House of Hearst, 30 Panton Street, St James's, London, SW1Y 4AJ, where teams collaborate in person and connect across brands and functions.
About the Role… Hearst UK are looking for a talented and driven Deputy Site Editor to join the digital team across Women's Health UK and Men's Health UK. Reporting to the Site Editor, you will play a key role in delivering the day-to-day digital output of the UK's two leading health and fitness brands. You will help ensure both sites publish timely, authoritative and engaging content that resonates with a large digital audience. The role combines strong digital journalism with an understanding of audience behaviour and performance data. You will be responsible for writing and editing daily news and service-led stories, identifying trending topics across health, fitness, nutrition and wellbeing, and translating expert insight into accessible, high-performing digital content. You will also support the Site Editor in maintaining digital publishing workflows and editorial standards across both brands, deputising when required to ensure the sites continue to operate smoothly.
Main Duties...
- Write and edit daily news and service-led stories for both sites, covering health, fitness, nutrition and lifestyle topics.
- Identify trending topics and emerging conversations, producing timely and engaging digital stories.
- Translate expert insight, studies and industry news into accessible service journalism for a broad digital audience.
- Build and publish stories quickly and accurately within the CMS while maintaining high editorial standards.
- Ensure all content is factually accurate, legally sound and consistent with brand tone.
Audience Growth & Performance
- Optimise stories for SEO, ensuring headlines, structure and keywords maximise search and audience reach.
- Use performance data and analytics to inform story selection, formats and editorial priorities.
- Work with the Site Editor and audience team to identify opportunities for traffic growth and engagement.
Editorial Support & Workflow
- Support the Site Editor in managing day-to-day digital workflows and maintaining a consistent publishing schedule.
- Assist with editing and commissioning digital features and service journalism where required.
- Ensure relevant print content is built and optimised for digital platforms.
- Collaborate with editorial, social, audience and commercial teams to support digital growth.
Leadership & Deputising
- Deputise for the Site Editor when required, overseeing daily output across both brands.
- Help maintain editorial standards and ensure publishing schedules are met during periods of absence.
- Support junior team members where appropriate and contribute to maintaining a collaborative newsroom culture.

- Excellent writing and editing skills, with the ability to produce high-quality stories quickly.
- Strong news judgement and the ability to identify topics that resonate with digital audiences.
- A strong understanding of SEO and digital publishing best practice.
- Experience building and publishing stories within a CMS.
- Confidence writing across health, fitness and wellbeing topics for different audiences.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced digital environment and manage multiple deadlines.
- Comfortable using analytics and performance insight to inform editorial decisions.
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
