You will play a key role in shaping the editorial direction and overall content of the Red brand, specifically focusing on features. Your creativity, industry knowledge, and strategic thinking will be essential in delivering engaging and captivating content that resonates with our audience.
ABOUT THE ROLE
- Develop and implement a compelling editorial strategy for features that aligns with the Red brand and target audience.
- Collaborate with the Deputy Editor, Editor-in-Chief and other editorial team members to brainstorm creative ideas, themes and special projects across all platforms.
- Oversee features for the print magazine, ensuring a smooth workflow and timely delivery of content that meets the highest standard of writing, accuracy and style.
- Conceive, commission and edit features for the brand’s digital platforms, using data and insights to guide editorial decisions.
- Write features, articles and interviews as required.
- Maintain strong relationships with industry professionals, including writers, book publishers and publicity contacts.
- Collaborate effectively with the visual, production, digital and social teams, maintaining open and clear communication channels to ensure everyone is aligned with editorial goals and deadlines.
- Manage the commissioning budget for features and ensure invoices are processed in a timely manner.
- Represent the Red brand at external events and in the media as required.
- To be an ambassador of Hearst UK and its values.
- You may be required to undertake such further duties as your skills, qualifications and experience allow and/or as may be assigned to you from time to time.
ABOUT YOU
- Extensive experience working in features, preferably running a features desk or overseeing an editorial section for a national newspaper or magazine.
- Excellent writing and editing skills, with a keen eye for detail and a strong sense of storytelling.
- Proven track record of successfully managing a team and coordinating multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficiency in using content management systems, digital publishing tools and social media platforms.
- Strong analytical and research skills to gather market insights and identify emerging trends.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Exemplary networking and relationship building skills.
