National charity Hearing Dogs for Deaf People trains dogs to transform the lives of deaf people and provides hearing loss services – because nobody with hearing loss should feel alone. At Hearing Dogs for Deaf People, we believe in the transformative impact that our dogs have on people's lives. We’re looking for a caring and committed Canine Healthcare Advisor to help ensure our dogs receive the expert care they need as they prepare to empower individuals with hearing loss to live independently and confidently.

About The Role

This role covers the Peterborough area and there will be travel and overnight stays required. This is a hybrid role and can be based from either The Grange, Saunderton, Buckinghamshire or our Northern Centre in Bielby, York, East Yorkshire. In this practical, hands‑on position, you’ll be responsible for ensuring that each dog’s physical and emotional needs are met with excellence. From overseeing routine care and health to supporting volunteers, your work will be vital to each dog’s journey through training.

You’ll be trained in national wellbeing protocols, how to provide tailored healthcare support, and how to triage when issues arise. Collaboration is key – you’ll work closely with volunteers and team members, offering advice, technical expertise, and encouragement to help them thrive in their roles.

Your responsibilities will also include:

  • Supporting volunteers through the various life stages
  • Attending puppy classes and veterinary visits (some travel and overnight stays may be required)
  • Delivering training on everyday canine health practices
  • Sharing updates with internal teams
  • Helping volunteers build confidence and skills

About You

We’re seeking someone who:

  • Is passionate about animal welfare and experienced in dog care
  • Can handle dogs with a wide range of temperaments
  • Can effectively manage both practical and administrative aspects of the role
  • Is observant, well‑organised, and takes initiative
  • Brings empathy, professionalism, and a team‑focused attitude

What We Can Offer You:

  • Comprehensive training in canine health and wellbeing
  • Sick pay & company pension
  • Hybrid working
  • On‑site parking

Every day in this role brings variety and purpose. If you’re ready to make a meaningful difference in the lives of dogs and the people they’ll support, we’d love to hear from you.
