Private Housekeeper (Cambridge City Centre)

The Role
This is an exciting, long-term position and a fantastic opportunity for an aspiring or already established professional housekeeper who will enjoy working in a stunning family home based in Cambridge city centre, with independent, detached accommodation available.
The role will suit an aspiring or professional Housekeeper looking for a live-in role, who has proven and demonstrable experience within a similar role within a private household, college or luxury hotel, who has common sense, is well organised, self-motivated, adaptable, with an eye for detail and takes pride in keeping the home to a standard of excellence.
Unlike the aforementioned college and hotel roles, this typically requires 1-3 bedrooms per day to be turned, as well as daily living rooms.
Responsibilities
The housekeeper will be joining a family in their beautiful, large home in Cambridge city centre and will oversee the smooth running of the house which includes hands-on housekeeping, tending to 1 to 3 bedrooms per day, laundry and ironing, general daily house cleaning and keep the home running effectively and in pristine condition.
The role will also involve looking after the three family dogs, so it is extremely important that the successful candidate enjoys being around dogs and confident in looking after them and tending to their needs such as feeding, grooming and walking.
Primary Responsibilities
- All cleaning duties up to 3 bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen and dining areas as well as living areas and unused rooms.
- Laundry and ironing – collecting, washing, ironing.
- Ensure adequate stock of household cleaning products and essentials.
- Changing and washing bed linens.
- Keeping a clean and organised kitchen with shopping lists and cooking essentials topped up. Keeping fridges and freezers organised, clean and tidy.
- Understanding of food safety and hygiene and allergies and an interest in cooking is ideal, although, the role will mostly involve preparing basic breakfasts in the morning.
- Organising waste and recycling.
- Setting tables & assisting with service at events (occasional).
- Ad-hoc errand running and grocery shopping; receiving deliveries.
- Other reasonable requirements of the family when required.
- Spending time with and looking after the three family dogs – feeding, brushing, taking to the vets, etc.
Skills/Experience
- Applicants with experience in a housekeeping role within a college, 4/5* hotel or private household will be considered.
- Flexibility in terms of duties and changes of schedules.
- Team player with a positive, can-do attitude.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Very high attention to detail.
- Good standard of written and spoken English is essential.
- Trustworthy and able to handle confidential information appropriately.
- Longevity as demonstrated by previous employment is essential.
- Able to prioritise and multitask effectively.
- Right to work within the UK is essential.
- Ideally a full and valid UK driving licence.
- Satisfactory references to be provided.
Package
Salary: £24,000 – £28,000 per annum – Depending on experience and hours.
Cost-free, luxury high-spec private detached studio accommodation provided, with private kitchen, shower room, living space, bed, washer/dryer, etc.
Cost-free utilities.
20 days annual leave + statutory bank holidays.
Mon – Fri (occasional weekends/evenings to be agreed in advance). Full-time or reduced hours considered. To be discussed and agreed
