We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established children's residential home in Crediton, looking for a dedicated and experienced Deputy Manager to join their leadership team. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Deputy Manager from a residential or supported living background, or a motivated Senior Support Worker with a Level 3 qualification ready to take the next step into management.
The Role
Working closely with the Registered Manager, you will support the day-to-day operational management of the home, ensuring high standards of care, safeguarding, and compliance are consistently met. You will play a key role in leading and developing the staff team while ensuring children and young people receive safe, nurturing, and person-centred care. This is a structured full-time role consisting of:
- 2 x Admin Days: Flexible start & end times
- 2 x 12 hour Shift Days to support the team
- 1 weekend per month Sleep-ins only when required to meet the needs of the home (£70 per sleep-in, paid in addition to your hourly rate)
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting the Registered Manager with the overall running of the home
- Leading, motivating, and supervising the residential care team
- Ensuring safeguarding procedures are robust and consistently followed
- Contributing to care planning, risk assessments, and reviews
- Supporting rota management and staffing requirements
- Conducting supervisions and contributing to staff development
- Maintaining compliance with regulatory and legislative standards
- Deputising in the absence of the Registered Manager
Candidate Requirements
- Experience in children's residential care or supported living settings
- Level 3 or Level 4 qualification in Children & Young People (or equivalent)
- Previous experience in a senior role, or readiness to step into a deputy management position
- Strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills
- Sound knowledge of safeguarding, care standards, and relevant legislation
- A genuine passion for supporting children to achieve positive outcomes
