An exciting opportunity has arisen for a self-motivated, proactive, and efficient individual to join Healthworks to work as a Volunteer Coordinator.

About Us

Healthworks is a national award-winning charity working with disadvantaged local communities to tackle health inequalities and improve their health and wellbeing through social prescribing. Based in Newcastle, but working across the region for over 29 years, our patron is Professor Michael Marmot. Our work has been recognised by a King’s Fund/GSK award for our work improving the physical and mental health of people across the North East of England.

We work in partnership with NHS and Local Authority colleagues and communities in many sectors to devise cost effective solutions that secure sustainable health impacts for many conditions that inhibit quality of life.

This position has been created with the aim of developing opportunities for individuals to volunteer within Healthworks organisation, giving them the opportunity to develop new skills and gain work experience which will enhance their employability, as well as helping tackle social isolation issues some residents suffer.

This role will be based at The Lemington Centre, Tyne View, NE15 8RZ but will require travel across Newcastle to help recruit volunteers and network for this opportunity.

In summary you will

  • Lead on recruitment of Healthworks volunteers
  • Identify and develop volunteering opportunities within Healthworks, liaising with Senior Managers to embed volunteers within the services
  • Match volunteers to suitable opportunities
  • Be the key contact for volunteers leading on all aspects of the day-to-day administration, activities and supervision
  • Ensure there are suitable, safe tasks assigned to volunteers with adequate supervision
  • Ensure volunteers get fulfilment from their volunteering role
  • Evaluate the performance of Healthworks volunteers in their roles and look at methods of improving their performance to support them to gain greatest benefit and satisfaction
