We are currently seeking experienced & qualified Community Support Workers for our 24/7 spinal injury complex care service user living in Oxford. Responsibilities may Include:
- Working closely with our service user to provide support as they go about their daily tasks
- Assisting with personal cares (showering, bathing)
- Assisting with household management and meal preparation
- Supporting exercise programmes
- Assisting with accessing the community
- Bowel, Bladder, and Catheter cares
- Moving and handling hoists and manual transfers
- Medication support
- Ensuring the service user's comfort, safety, and well‐being at all times
Job Location – Oxford (Waimakariri, Canterbury) – The service user is located in the rural Oxford area and is approximately a 1-hour drive from Christchurch.
Employment Type: Part Time (Up to 29 Hours)
We offer a range of employment opportunities including casual, part-time, and full-time positions, which will be discussed further during the recruitment process.
Days of Work: As this is community‐based work, rotating rosters would be involved including AM, PM, and weekend work. Your preferred hours of work can be discussed during the recruitment process.
We are looking for reliable and dedicated support workers who would be comfortable covering morning shifts from 7 am to 3 pm and night shifts, which would include sleepover shifts and weekend work. The duration of these hours may vary, ranging from shorter to longer periods, depending on the specific needs of the people we support.

You are a calm but confident natured individual who can demonstrate resilience and understand the challenges of our service users. There are many responsibilities associated with being a support worker which can be challenging and fulfilling. It is rewarding when you are part of the support that enables a person to live their best lives in the community.
The candidate would have (Candidate Pre-Requisites):
- Understanding of spinal injury care protocols and procedures is advantageous.
- Ideally prior personal care experience is preferred
- Previous experience in complex cares (for example bowel & catheter cares) is preferred (comprehensive training will be provided)
- Ability to work effectively within a team and independently when required
- A Level 3 or Level 4 Health and Wellbeing qualification is beneficial (comprehensive training can be provided)
- Access to a car and ability to drive independently (a full New Zealand Driver's License is a must)
- Flexibility to work on a rotating roster
- Legal right to work in New Zealand is a must.
